Scrolling across maplestory fansites, I’ve noticed that when I played KMS, it’s somewhat remarkably different compared to GMS. One of the things that have been pointed out is somewhat major, is that Showa Town monsters are different between the versions.

If nexon succeeds in censoring Showa town. Whats gonna happen to Maplestory? what will they do next?!
Are they gonna Turn all of our swords into broom handles? or some other stupid blunt weapon

To be honest…it would be funny to censor the Pirate weapons with paintball guns…
Why couldnt Nexon have a sense of humor and change the guns a little bit instead of completely destroying it
Paintball guns dont “kill” people but they can have the same effects right?
They have allready gone overboard with censoring the Chat a lot more then needed.
I actualy think, that this is gonna make those Maplestory Private servers EVEN more popular!
The one im hosting doesnt have a nerf-showa town…its got the REAL one in it.
And once people figure out about all the private servers…and how they are uncensored and
UN-ALTERD ( some servers i’ve seen are clones of the real maplestory but with maps and items that arent suposed to be in that version)
the real Maplestorystory will die off…

They have the TOS make people age 13+ before they can play yet they treat us like we are 5 year olds
It doesn’t matter if ESRB will rerate the game to a T because 13+ players already are only supposed to play anyway
Even though 12 and under people play thats not our problem
I’ve seen a SEVEN year old play DOOM 3, and its at least 5888 times worse than anything the real showa has
Some of you may argue that it doesn’t matter as long as the drops and exp is ok, but it takes the theme and enjoyment out of the game. I mean, give me a break, instead of guns, SLINGSHOTS???
Ok, lets give you that for a second, cartoon guns encourage people to kill each other, but lets have swords, it encourages people to stab each other, the bows encourage you to kill people with arrows, and ninja stars encourage you to kill people too. In other words, you are already encouraging killing, so don’t give me that bull
Keep RPGs dark and violent and dont spoil the fun

Tsk tsk tsk, I pity you guys in GMS. I’d actually expect that to happen in SEA but it didn’t! It’s real sad really. Plus, what’s the use of censoring them virtual FAKE guns if children these days see REAL authentic ones on TV and stuff, including the blood and gore. Plus, in Maple, there’s no actual blood being shed…

“First of all, censoring Souwa Town has nothing to do with COPPA or an ESRB rating. The contract you sign when you create an account with Nexon states that you must be 13, so if you’re under 13, are offended, and your parent files suite, Nexon is not liable. Companies don’t work that way.
Second, you’re missing the point. Nexon of America employees are quite obviously still in touch with their Korean roots. Hell, you can’t even browse Mapledump without encountering some Korean, or at least some Korean transliteration. (Mu Reung Hill anyone?) Shouwa isn’t about guns and weapons, it’s about a hideout of the Yakuza.
Here’s a history lesson.

1) Both ChinaMS and GMS’ Korean staff censored Shouwa.
2) KMS doesn’t even have Shouwa, does it? This might also explain that.
The Yakuza destroyed many people in power, along with many nobles and merchants and their respective families. I think it’s a small wonder we have Shouwa at all.”
