MapleGeek Closed Down

Another Private Server closed down at the hands of NEXON last week. This time it was MapleGeek, a popular and very professional looking MapleStory Private Server hit over 6,000 registrations in it’s first month alone. The MapleGeek staff didn’t provide an exact reason other than “We’re shutting our doors” to the public. But, it can be guessed that they shut down because of threats or fear of being sued by NEXON.

Many have been arguing that NEXON will never shut down Private Servers, but it doesn’t stop them from going after ones that have had huge success. Since the announcement of the OdinMS lawsuit, numerous well known Private Servers have shut down like LocalMS and CakeStory. Private Server owners are trying a number of different attempts to keep NEXON away. Terms of Service have been created that would enable NEXON to agree to something by moving onto their website…and others have just tried hiding their site. It seems futile and just an attempt to prolong the inevitable. Many maplers agree that only the outcome of the OdinMS lawsuit will determine the future of the thousands of other Private Servers out there.

Maple-News Forums Now Open!

We wanted to save the announcement until the new site was up (which we hope you guys like). We’ve decided to officially separate ourselves from our sister site, TheNEXGame.net. For now, The NEX Game will remain closed but all former TNGers are welcome to join Maple-News Forums.

Maple-News forums are much different than The NEX Game. The forums strictly focus on the Maple-News site and MapleStory. Our forums will be a place for the Maple-News community to get together, chat, and better get to know each other. North American Kart Rider. Gone for good?

The North American Kart Rider version has been down for about 4 months. NEXON America has repeatedly ignored the question and sometimes given a small response on NEXON forums shrugging it off.

No, it’s not gone.

As we said before, we are working on getting everything together so that it can be as good as everybody hopes it can be.

Funny thing is, while it was up everybody complained about lack of content. We take it down so that we can invest some time in getting that for you, and then everybody freaks.

The purpose of a beta is to get a game in the state that the players will have the most enjoyment we can provide. The time in between beta stages is dedicated to provide that.

We have nothing to gain by telling you a lie and saying it is going to come back if we weren’t planning on bringing it back. Any assumption that Kartrider is not coming back is an assumption and nothing more.

But what is taking them so long? MapleStory never went down for months at a time. So why Kart Rider? The response to the Global version of Kart Rider was anything but explosive. Could that be a explanation why NEXON has taken Kart Rider offline? Obviously the GM’s aren’t telling us anything. This is just adding the flaming mound of distrust NEXON America players feel toward the company.

OdinMS Blog Shut Down. Computers and servers confiscated.

On July 22nd, 2008, there was an update made on OdinMS.de. There was no author indicated but he or she explained a bit further into what is going on with the case.

As you probably noticed the OdinMS blog has been down since July 21st 2008. The reason for this is that all our computers, including servers, have been confiscated by the public prosecutor’s office of Saarbrücken.

Please understand that on our lawyers’ advice we can’t go into too much detail here. We will try to keep you informed about the proceedings as much as possible.

Since the lawsuits ahead of us will cause us a lot of financial trouble we decided to accept donations. Please note that like always you won’t get any compensation for your donations. They will be used to cover the expenses of traveling, consultations with lawyers and similar. They won’t be used to pay any fines or the like.

If you decide to donate you can do so below. After choosing the currency you will be redirected to PayPal and prompted for your desired amount.

The OdinMS staff/creators are accepting donations. I for one can agree that we all feel for them in this trying time. No one deserves to be sued almost over half a million dollars, not for a Private Server for a game called MapleStory. Lets hope everything goes well.

Yellonde, will it ever come?

Many maplers waited eagerly last night into the morning for the slightest chance that the next server, Yellonde, would be released to MapleGlobal. Sadly, they awoke in the middle of the night only to see that nothing of use had been added.

Dylan, a longtime mapler has been eagerly awaiting the release of Yellonde. We spoke to him last night shorly before the server check.

“Yeah, it’s really late here. I had better go to bed for 3 hours. I’m going to get up when the server check ends to see if Yellonde is out. I’m crossing my fingers.”

Like Dylan, many other maplers are eager for the release of Yellonde and the chance to “start fresh” and meet new people. Forum topics with hundreds and hundreds of replies have been circulating for the last few months around forums large and small. People are still asking the question: “When will Yellonde be out!” even to the point of redundancy and people wanting to kick each other’s asses.

So until NEXON releases Yellonde, expect many many MANY more threads screaming the same echoing line that makes you want to kill yourself “OMG WHEN WILL YELLONDE BE OUT!?”

Pirates in Private Servers

Who would have thunk it? The Pirate Class has appeared in Private Servers before most of the other versions! A new private server, FInal Story, was able to get the Pirate class working in their Tespia private server containing only 15 people. How? Most of the files in the Tespia version (courtesy of MapleGlobal) have Pirate files in them…all it took was some coding, re-modeling, and extracting. For you skeptics, the screen shots are NOT EDITED. According to Alex (MrHoar as shown in the screen shots) in a few days the Pirate class will be available to all players in Final Story. This is definitely shocking (and probably exciting news to many of you), but remember, you heard it first here at Maple-News.

Scrolling across maplestory fansites, I’ve noticed that when I played KMS, it’s somewhat remarkably different compared to GMS. One of the things that have been pointed out is somewhat major, is that Showa Town monsters are different between the versions.

If nexon succeeds in censoring Showa town. Whats gonna happen to Maplestory? what will they do next?!

To be honest…it would be funny to censor the Pirate weapons with paintball guns…
Why couldnt Nexon have a sense of humor and change the guns a little bit instead of completely destroying it
Paintball guns dont “kill” people but they can have the same effects right?

They have allready gone overboard with censoring the Chat a lot more then needed.

I actualy think, that this is gonna make those Maplestory Private servers EVEN more popular!
The one im hosting doesnt have a nerf-showa town…its got the REAL one in it.
And once people figure out about all the private servers…and how they are uncensored and
UN-ALTERD ( some servers i’ve seen are clones of the real maplestory but with maps and items that arent suposed to be in that version)
the real Maplestorystory will die off…

They have the TOS make people age 13+ before they can play yet they treat us like we are 5 year olds

It doesn’t matter if ESRB will rerate the game to a T because 13+ players already are only supposed to play anyway

Even though 12 and under people play thats not our problem

I’ve seen a SEVEN year old play DOOM 3, and its at least 5888 times worse than anything the real showa has

Some of you may argue that it doesn’t matter as long as the drops and exp is ok, but it takes the theme and enjoyment out of the game. I mean, give me a break, instead of guns, SLINGSHOTS???

Ok, lets give you that for a second, cartoon guns encourage people to kill each other, but lets have swords, it encourages people to stab each other, the bows encourage you to kill people with arrows, and ninja stars encourage you to kill people too. In other words, you are already encouraging killing, so don’t give me that bull

Keep RPGs dark and violent and dont spoil the fun
